Tampa Bay Newborn Baby Family Photographer: {Smash Cake Session}

Last week, I had the honor of meeting and working with babies H and E.  They are the twin boys of Tim and Roxanne and little brothers of big sister B.  H and E are turning one year old very soon, so we scheduled a baby session that included a few family shots and a smash cake.  Big sister B stole the show for a little while...I couldn't resist her curly-q pigtails and big brown eyes.  Please enjoy the "Sweet Peek" from their recent baby session.

Baby H and E were so amazed by my duster :)

Look at Big sister B...couldn't be a sweeter set of siblings.

Those eyes and that expression...pure innocence.

She liked the trike.

Showing me how she twirled in her colorful dress.

Ahhhh...make me melt...a mama and her boys.  What a precious moment

The family

The birthday boys.

The babies awaiting their smash cakes.  Time to celebrate being one year old!

There was no hesitation.  They boys dug right into their smash cakes.

At the very end of the smash cake session, the boys discovered each other.  They had been so enthralled with the cake, it was if they had forgotten each other were there. When they saw each other they stared and tried to feed each other.  It was really sweet.

And I have to post this one more...with all the busy-ness of having 3 kids under the age of 3, Dad and Mom still found a minute to be lovey-dovey!

Thank you, H and E, for letting me celebrate your 1st birthday!  You two {and your family} were a joy to photograph :)
H and E connected with Brooke Hazard Photography through Preemie Prints.  Here is a link to their blog.

Tampa Bay Newborn Child Family Photographer: {Senior Personality Session}

I had an amazing time with Yuri last week during her High School Senior Personality Session.  She is fun, beautiful, smart, and kind.  It was such an honor to be her photographer.  Senior sessions should reflect the individuality of each student, so when planning our session, Yuri described the vision she had for her senior personality session:  bright, happy, and fun.  We decided to start at Florida Botanical Garden, where the lively colors, textures, and flowers seemed just perfect.  Then we ventured off to the railroad, which provided a bit more variety and a different "look" to her pictures.  The Tampa Bay area is absolutely overflowing with locations for senior sessions, ranging from fields, beaches, urban scenes, and parks...it's really a matter of what fits the student's personality ;)

Tampa Bay Newborn Child Family Photographer: {Product Peek}

There are so many choices when it comes to best displaying your favorite images from your recent newborn, child, or family session.  Brooke Hazard Photography offers a variety of "products" that can make the walls of your house full of heart art, if you will :)  At my own house, I've recently taken down some of the Kirkland's and Home Goods "art," and replaced it with some canvas gallery wraps and Organic Bloom frames full of tender images of my family.  I think it has added so much character and warmth to our house!

Today, I want to give you some details about the Canvas Gallery Wraps that Brooke Hazard Photography offers.  This {Product Peek} is designed to help you visualize how a canvas can be used and the details of quality.

So, here is my most recent order.  I took this picture of our 2 1/2 year old son...I think it's probably one of my favorite pictures of him!  He was actually asking my husband for a golf club in this picture.  How could you say no to such an angelic face?!  Anyway, I digress.  I ordered a 24x36.  It hangs in our bedroom.  I absolutely adore it.  It is the perfect size, for if I had gone any smaller, it would have looked strange in such a large space.  That's something to keep in mind when ordering a large print that will stand alone.  Bigger is better, when it comes to canvas on a wall.  :)

This canvas is an 11x14.  I intend on using it with a decorative metal scroll on our dresser, similar to how a cookbook holder works.  Using it this way will compliment the large print I have on the opposite wall and create a visual dimension that you don't get with a frame.

The vendor I use provides exceptional quality.  Canvas gallery wraps are printed with pigment-based inks which will prevent fade.  They are then finished with a clear, acrylic coating, which creates a scratch-resistant protective layer with a satin luster.

One of my favorite features is the finished back.  There are no staples and they use a black backer board instead of leaving it hollow!  Love it.

They come with pre-installed hanging hardware for both horizontal and vertical display.

Canvas Gallery Wraps feature a 1 1/4 inch depth.  The corners boast quality, as they are not bulky, but finished and sleek.  Constructed with a solid face and backing to support the canvas, it will always look tight and flat.

Brooke Hazard Photography offers Canvas Gallery Wraps starting at $50 for a 10x10.

I will no longer bow down...to me: Clearwater, Largo, St. Petersburg, Florida Newborn Child Family Photographer

An excerpt from One More Sunrise, by Michael Landon Jr. and Tracie Peterson:

“I know what I’ve been living for, Ferguson,” said Joe.  “I wanted the glory.  I wanted to be the hero who came home to the cheers of my family and friends…everyone.  I wanted to be the guy who got all the attention for saving the day."

“Living for your own credit and fame,” Ferguson said, “is something most men try to do, but few will admit to ---and it can make for an unfulfilling life.”

“I always thought my passion for flying was a gift from God, “Joe said.

“It is,” Ferguson agreed,” but most people want to use their gifts to glorify themselves instead of glorifying the One who gave them the gift in the first place.”

“Is it too late, Ferguson?”  Joe asked, “Is it too late to use the gift He gave me for him…to glorify Him?”

I recently finished reading this book.  An excellent read, by the way.  However, the most remarkable thing about me reading it was how God used it to get my attention.  This small excerpt really shows what God pricked my heart with.

You see, I love photography like Joe loves flying.  I love the emotion it stirs.  I love how it is timeless.  I want to be good at it.  No, I want to be excellent at it.  I've always been like that...wanting to be good at everything I do.  And, I've always been my toughest critic.  I enjoy looking at other photographers' works and being inspired and humbled.  It's natural {and beneficial} to know where I need to improve in my work, how I can get better, and what kind of photographer I want to eventually aspire to be.  I believe it's even natural to compare yourself to others.  But only to a degree.  Only enough to know where and how to improve.

I found myself continually comparing myself to other photographers.  "Am I good enough?"  "I'll never get there."  "Do people really like my work?"  I even found myself begrudging photographers who were finding success! {I still struggle with this, honestly.}  Oh, how Satan and jealousy work so stealthily.

Not only that, but I allowed pride to creep in.  While it is fantastic that I can see improvement in my skills and love that others can see growth, as well, it is not fantastic that I wanted attention and credit for my pretty pictures!  All this points to my "fleshy" heart:  It's all about me.  My glory.  The insecurity, jealousy, and pride are all about me.

That is a problem.

I want my photography business to be for God's glory, not my glory.   He is the one who has given me a gift, the time, and the resources to even do this professionally!  If I am good, it's because of Him and the abilities He's given me.

So, I have decided it's not too late for me to return my focus {pun intended} on bringing God glory.  Most corporations have a mission statement to guide and define their goals.  Rather than a mission statement, I'd like to write a commitment:   Brooke Hazard Photography exists because of the grace, mercy, and gifts of God.  He shall be glorified.  My commitment is to let every interaction with clients to reflect the love and hope of Christ.  My commitment is to allow God to continually transform my mind and heart so that there will be decreasingly less room for "fleshy-ness," as I know this will be a work in progress.

Now, the question is how.  How to make it tangible?  How do I intend to give God the glory that He deserves?  I asked the Lord to show me how I can reflect Jesus to my clients.  He gave me a couple of ideas that I am quite excited about.  First, I would like serve my clients who come to me for newborn sessions by providing a meal for them on the day of their session.  I remember after our son was born, we thought the best gifts were a home cooked meal and diapers!  Another way to shine for the Lord is through Preemie Prints.  I’m so excited to announce that I’ve been approved to be a volunteer photographer.  This Christian, Non-profit organization’s mission is to give hope and encouragement to families who are faced with premature newborns or babies with critical illnesses in the NICU.  I intend on continuing to look for more opportunities to demonstrate the love of God.

So, to sum it all up, All glory be to God! J  Thanks for reading.

Mother's Day Mini Sweet Peek: Clearwater Largo St. Petersburg Newborn Photographer

Here are a few from a recent Mother's Day Mini Session.  The lighting was so beautiful as it shone through the trees and illuminated the golden-green grass and yellow field flowers.  Please enjoy :)

Baby W's Sweet Peek: Clearwater Largo St. Petersburg Newborn Photographer

This little boy just makes me smile.  His smile is so big and happy, isn't it?!!?!  I just love it.  Please enjoy a few of my favorites from Baby "W"'s Family Session.

Baby C's Sweet Peek: Clearwater Largo St. Petersburg Newborn Photographer

I had the recent pleasure of taking pictures of the beautiful baby "C."  She just turned 3 months old.  I could just eat up those cheeks!!  And her eyes?...They are too-good-to-be-true blue.  But best of all was her sweet temperament.  She let us do just about anything we wanted except put her down on her belly.  She was just content and sweet the whole session.  <3  Please enjoy "C's" Sweet Peek.

She's got a really cool big brother, too.  Big Brother "D" was such a trooper while Baby "C" was the star of the session.  He happily played with Daddy until it was his turn to shine.  I caught a few of him and Daddy enjoying some quality time, as well. :)
